Cupping

Cupping therapy is a form of ancient treatment. TCM cupping therapy is a TCM theory-based approach. It involves placing of cup(s) on skin along the meridian path (经络), usually on back, neck, arm and leg. By removal of the air within the cup, vacuum occurs and suction is created. As a result, muscle is being pulled, blood vessels expanded, nerve tensed. The suction effect removes stasis, clot, dampness and toxin in the channel thus promotes circulation. Cupping therapy is most commonly used to treat pain, including acute and chronic cases. Increasingly, it is being used for overall wellness. Many believe that it is a form of deep-tissue massage. In practice it is use in combination with Acupuncture and / or Tui’na.
